The Spirit of Adventure

An image of a lake a sunset with with mountains and trees. The spirit of adventure.

The image is lavender shading to ochre. The text reads She longed to visit every country - at least she could dream about the travel adventures she would have some day.

Lucy is the poster child for the spirit of adventure. She dreads being stuck in her humdrum existence and dreams of the travels she’ll have. Just as soon as she can get out from under her parent’s thumbs.

Adventure is the spice of life. It can be defined as a thrilling or exciting experience that takes us out of our comfort zone and pushes our boundaries. And experiencing new things and pushing ourselves to try different things is incredibly beneficial for our overall well-being.

Challenging ourselves with new experiences can build confidence.

When we try something new and succeed at it, we get a boost of self-esteem and self-assurance. This can then transfer over into other aspects of our lives and helps us to feel more capable and confident in our abilities. Adventures also helps us to develop new skills and talents. Whether it’s learning a new language, trying a new sport, or even just traveling to a new place, every new adventure presents an opportunity for growth and development.

New skills and talents make us better equipped to handle the challenges that life throws our way. As human beings, we often find ourselves stuck in a routine, day in and day out. Wake up, go to work or school, come home, eat, sleep, repeat. While there is nothing inherently wrong with a routine, it can quickly become monotonous and leave us feeling unfulfilled. That’s where the power of adventure comes in.

While Lucy get’s a lot more adventure than she bargained for in both The Silk Road and The Caves of Wonder, these adventures help her to discover what she is really capable of.

Go on, embrace the spirit of adventure! And when you do, I’d love to hear about it.
